This gorgeous 1960 Lancia Flaminia Sport was built on September 21, 1960, finished in Grigio (Gray) with a red leather interior. By 1971, the Lancia had made its way to the UK, as evidenced by a period British registration document on file. By 1991, it was owned by noted Aston Martin collector and Virgin Records co-founder Simon Draper. Mr. Draper then had the specialists at Connaught Design of Middlesex, UK, carry out various repairs and upgrades to bring the car up to his high standards. In his ownership, the Lancia was parked alongside some of the finest cars in the world – including an Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato. From 1992 to 2011, the car was attended to by Lancia specialist Peter Harding for additional mechanical work and further refinement, and the Flaminia was featured in Palawan Press’ impressive Aston Martin DB4 Zagato book.

In 2013, the Lancia was imported to the US by a noted artist, photographer, and car collector in New York City. He enjoyed the car for three years before selling it to the consignor, a meticulous collector of Zagato-bodied sports cars. In the consignor’s ownership, the Lancia has been enjoyed on weekend drives through the backroads of the Northeast, and some interior restoration work was carried out by expert craftsman Justin Merkhofer of EuroInteriors in Bedford Hills, New York.

In 2019, the consignor chose to commission a high-quality refurbishment performed by top specialists. The Lancia was sent to restorer Tim Marinos of Vintage Autocraft in Pennsylvania, who does restoration work for some of the most respected collections in the US, and whose restorations have been invited to the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance®. Marinos and his team stripped the car to bare metal and the work included a complete repaint, the replacement of various items in the engine compartment, new carpet, and a brand-new wiring harness. The engine was also rebuilt by the highly regarded specialists at R&R Automotive Restorations and the overall refurbishment exceeded $340,000. Records on file document this process, and today the car presents beautifully.

The Lancia is accompanied by over 120 pages of ownership records dating to back 1971, period advertisements, and its unrestored bumpers. It is also equipped with the attractive and rarely seen Amadori-style cast alloy wheels and features many rare details, including the rare original taillights, seldom seen on even the finest restored examples.

Its fresh refurbishment and engine rebuild by top experts, wealth of documentation, known history, and long-term ownership by renowned collector Simon Draper make this Flaminia Sport a fantastic example that would be perfect for longdistance touring, concours, or elegant weekend drives through the countryside.
