Beschreibung

Chassis No. ZLA831AB000584121

With its earliest roots in Group B FIA rally racing, the Lancia Delta Integrale has become a legend in the eyes of high-performance motoring enthusiasts. It possessed all the requisite qualities for outright domination on virtually any surface and in virtually any venue, whether it was the Rally Monte Carlo or an Alpine hillclimb - a light, nimble chassis powered by a turbocharged high-revving motor with sophisticated braking and suspension, all running through a race-proven four-wheel drive system. By the time Group B was canceled and the Delta HF 4WD was homologated for Group A, the Delta series had been in production for nearly a decade and by 1988, heralded the introduction of the Integrale variant. Five successive World Rally Championship constructors titles followed, by which point the Integrale had received a 16-valve engine and ultimately developed into the "Evoluzione," which benefited from a new exhaust, stronger steering rack, suspension updates, and larger brakes.

This Integrale followed this sixth and final victory - the swan song of the heralded model, in its most potent and most desirable form. With 212 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque in stock form, courtesy of a Garrett T3 turbo, a new engine management system, timed multipoint fuel injection, and additional handling and appearance improvements, the Delta Integrale "Evoluzione II" was the most superb iteration of all. Benefitting from the cosmetic improvements of the Evoluzione I, the "Evo II" also sat on larger wheels and from a pure design standpoint, was nothing short of box-flare perfection.

This particular Evoluzione II is presented in an especially elegant shade of blue termed "Blu Lord" over a beige suede interior, which is in outstanding original condition and speaks to the careful use the car has had over the years. It was acquired by the consignor, directly from Karlhofer, a leading name in Lancia Integrale preparation and sales in Austria. At the time of its acquisition, documentation on file indicates the car benefited from such upgrades as a sport exhaust (including silencer), a "second-step horsepower upgrade," sport suspension with Eibach springs, and 17-inch Speedline wheels. Since joining its current US-based collection, the owner has commissioned extensive upgrades to the sound system, installing a highly sophisticated yet virtually invisible upgrade by Ai Design in New York at a cost of nearly $21,000.

Long enjoying a cult following in the United States among racing enthusiasts, the Lancia Delta Integrale was never officially imported when new and as such is now gaining wider recognition among motoring enthusiasts as limited few examples have since found their way Stateside. Of that rare group, however, an Evoluzione II in Blu Lord is an incredibly rare occurrence onto itself, particularly when offered in such exquisite condition and with such extensive professional upgrades.
