The Lancia Aurelia B20 Berlinetta (or Coupé) set new standards when introduced in 1951, based on the pioneering mechanical elements first seen in the Aurelia saloon the year before. The most exciting features of the new Berlinetta were its compact but powerful V6 engine and the sporting coachwork, styled by Pininfarina.
The B20 GT started a racing revolution. In 1951 alone the Aurelia scored 19 major class victories including the Mille Miglia, Giro di Sicilia and Le Mans. The Le Mans class win was taken by Count ‘Johnny‘ Lurani and Giovanni Bracco in a virtually standard car.
