A really special and rare Lusso version, numbers matching with just 87,000 kilometres from new finished in its original shade of Mendoza Blue with black vinyl interior. The car is in exceptionally original preserved condition in all respects and drives superbly as only such an example can. The interior is completely unmarked with no signs of wear and all switches work with an as new precision. This condition extends to the engine compartment with all original stickers, plates and factory finish and also to the boot area with original mat, rare spare wheel cover specific to the Lusso model, original Cromodora spare, tools and jack. The bodywork is immaculate with all original panel work and panel shut gaps and the underside remains factory fresh with no welding or alteration from new.

The first owner, a 64-year-old resident of Turin took delivery of the Fulvia when new in August 1972 as noted in the original Italian Registration Document that remains on file. He used the car sparingly and maintained the car at the well-known official Italian Lancia workshop in Turin, Barone which was only 200 metres away from his residence.

The second owner of the car was Mr Luigi De Virgilio, a member of the Lancia family whose father M. Francesco De Virgilio played a central role in Lancia history and was the engineer behind the V6 Aurelia engine. He entered Lancia in 1939 as a young engineer and became a member of the Lancia family, marrying Rita Lancia in 1947, the niece of Vincenzo Lancia. The De Virgilio own and maintain an important Lancia marque archive and Luigi has a significant private collection of Lancia cars.

De Virgilio continued to use Officina Barone in Turin for maintenance work as did the third owner who bought the Fulvia in 1981 and kept it for the next thirty six years. The last owner, an experienced English collector with an eye for special original cars, purchased the Fulvia in 2017. Letters and documentation on file showed that he fully investigated the cars provenance and condition before flying to Monaco and driving the car back to Britain.

This last owner used to work on these cars when they were new as an apprentice mechanic at his local Lancia dealer and hence he knew well what the car should be like and how to best set it up. Since purchase he has detailed the car beautifully, maintained it correctly, used it only occasionally in fine weather and exhibited it at a few classic car events.

This must be one of the finest examples of its type, a really lovely car that I am tempted to keep, honestly! It is surely as close as one could get to a new example, even retaining a factory fresh smell inside. It comes with the above-mentioned history file, its ASI registration card and plate, both sets of original Lancia keys, handbook and tools in their original case.
