Legend has it that Ferruccio Lamborghini, a successful manufacturer of air conditioning and tractors, bought a Ferrari and found it wanting. He took it back to Maranello and, infuriated by the haughty reception he received, vowed to make a better car. Before long, Lamborghini was established as one of the world''s most desirable marques. The first generation of cars all used a quad-camshaft 4.0 litre V12 engine and they were so successful that Lamborghini decided to tackle the Ferrari 246 Dino GT.
