The Lamborghini Jarama S is an absolute rarity amongst the world of rare Lamborghini’s. At the 1970 Geneva car show, the Lamborghini Jarama was introduced as the successor to the Islero S. Instead of continuing the development of the Islero, Lamborghini decided to build the Jarama on a shortened Espada base. The Jarama S can be seen as a face-lifted version. The Jarama S (aka the Jarama GTS) featured many improvements compared to the normal Jarama. The wheels have 5 wheel nuts instead of a central locking wheel nut and the power output was increased from 350 to 365 Ps. Noticeable changes were the new ventilation grates on the bodywork, the air inlet on the bonnet and the newly styled dashboard. The dashboard not only looks better, it also allows for more cabin space. Did you know the Jarama happened to be Feruccio Lamborghini’s favourite Lamborghini? At the time he typified the car as being the ultimate combination between an Espada and a Miura.

This European supplied Lamborghini Jarama S was first registered in 1973 and has remained in fantastic original condition. The blue paintwork has been resprayed for cosmetic reasons and is in wonderful condition. The bodywork shines through with its lovely thin and correctly aligned panelwork. Matters such as the bumpers and mirrors also all look fabulous. The fully original interior trim has black carpets and tan leather upholstery. Another of the Jarama’s interior worth a mention is the rear bench seat. Up to now, the Jarama is the last V12 2+2 coupé produced (the Espada is a proper 4-seater). The switches and controls are in great shape and the Jaeger instruments all work perfectly. The good interior condition is in part down to the car’s low mileage of 62,500 km and the loving care lavished by its previous owner. The same goes for the car’s mechanics.

The Giotto Bizzarrini designed 3.9 litre V12 is a true work of art. The matching numbers engine is attached to a 5-speed manual gearbox in good working order. For Lamborghini enthusiasts, the V12 is nothing less than an institution. Did you know that the engine in its definitive shape was even still used in the Murcielago SV? The Jarama is a bit of a forgotten child in Lamborghini’s history and that is undeserved! What a great car to drive! Lovely suspension, good brakes, a wonderful interior and a brilliant engine. This is the perfect Lamborghini for the enthusiast looking for one of the rarest of rare Lamborghinis.
