Produced to celebrate the 25 years of the marque, the "25th Anniversary" is the last evolution of the Countach, the most complete, just before the launch of the Diablo. Launched in 1974 for series production, the Countach had a spectacular design signed by the redoubtable Marcello Gandini, and was powered by Lamborghini's legendary V12, placed longitudinal, at first with 4-litres, followed by 4.7-litres for the LP 500 S and then 5.1-liters for the 5000 QV and the 25th Anniversary. This powerpack gave it a top speed of almost 300 km/h and acceleration time of 4.7 seconds for 0 to 100 km/h sprint, figures that, even today, are achieved by an exclusive club of high-level supercars. This brilliant engine was complemented by specific aesthetic changes to this version, including larger air intakes for more effective cooling. To transmit power to the tarmac, the Countach received the widest set of tyres in the market at that time.
This particular Countach was sold new in May 1989 to the famous driver Mario Andretti, one of very few drivers who became Formula 1 World Champion, winner of the Indianapolis 500 Miles and also class winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Included in the file is the first registration document issued in his name and in the state of Pennsylvania while he was in fact residing in Victory Lane in Nazareth.
Mario Andretti liked the Countach and already owned a Countach QV in the past. He ordered the car in the same colour that it is today, "Rosso Seviglia" with cream-coloured interior. The car was only driven occasionally and thanks to the American CarFax report we can note that it had only travelled 5,859 km in 2000 when it passed the CO2 emissions test in California. It had a mileage of 5,930 km on the odometer when it was acquired by Lamborghini Houston at the end of 2009. It was then overhauled by this dealer and displayed in his showroom where a visiting Austrian collector purchased it in December 2009.
The car arrived in Germany in 2010, it was registered and received bumpers to European specifications. The car now has a very low mileage of 7,410 km, reflected by its superb condition and by the America Carfax report. It is a rare car thanks to its condition and also absolutely unique due to its most exceptional provenance.
