Engine No. 219995

Introduced in 1927, the LaSalle was intended by General Motors to fill a perceived gap in the model range between Buick and Cadillac. Handsomely styled by legendary designer Harley Earl, the LaSalle inspired General Motors to establish a separate division known as Art and Colour responsible for automotive styling, naturally headed up by Earl. Built by Cadillac to the same high-quality standards and renowned dependability, the LaSalle employed an advanced 303 cubic-inch 90-degree V8 engine offering impressive performance.

This handsome LaSalle Series 303 features arguably one of the most sporting coachwork options for the 1928 model year; the Sport Roadster, handcrafted by Fisher Custom Coachworks. Offered from the estate of a long-time collector car enthusiast and member of the renowned Burlingame, California-based Candy Store classic car club, the LaSalle has enjoyed devoted ownership by several Candy Store members during the past decades, while being shown with great success at various concours d'elegance events over the years. The sporting Roadster is finished in a striking two-tone black and red livery, with the main Roadster bodywork in red and fenders and hood in black, neatly contrasted by red pinstriping. Dual side-mounted spares are fitted, along with cowl-mounted driving lights.

Red wire wheels with stainless-steel spokes, shod on appropriate Denman tires, complete the striking Classic Era look. Inside, one is greeted by a sharp black interior, topped by a matching black convertible top, with accompanying black top boot, to neatly strap down the flat-folding Roadster top when in the lowered position. This lovely LaSalle Series 303 Sport Roadster offers stunning looks with a slightly raked delicate Roadster windscreen, a rumble seat, and golf bag door on the side. The appropriate radiator mascot of René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle, the French explorer who laid name to the LaSalle Automobile, is in place out front.
