OHV Chevrolet V8 engine with three two-barrel carburetors, four-speed Borg-Warner manual gear-box, “Quick Change” Halibrand type rear, torsion bar front and rear suspension with solid axles located by leading and trailing arms, four-wheel Halibrand/Airheart disc brakes, tubular chrome-moly steel ladder type frame with alloy body panels. The extremely rare Kurtis “Aguila” (Spanish for “eagle”), that we are privileged to offer here is surely one of the most unique racing cars designed by Frank Kurtis. In 1961, Houston, Texas-based former bike racer Herb Stelter decided that a converted Indy car chassis would make a killer sports car. His mechanic Dale Burt agreed and lined up a visit with Frank Kurtis. Burt and Kurtis put their heads together and determined they could construct a dual purpose car, legal for the new proposed SCCA “For
