Beschreibung

Guide price: £65000 - £80000.

From long-term private ownership. One of only 30 Mk1 examples believed to have survived

An original UK, right-hand drive, matching-numbers car well maintained by Cropredy Garage

Fully restored a few years ago in its original Moorland Peat over Champagne leather

Uprated dampers, electronic ignition, high-torque starter, twin fans, S/S exhaust, unleaded head

Introduced in 1966, the Interceptor was built in West Bromwich for a period of 10 years and evolved from the original MkI through to the final MkIV, a decade later in 1976. The original MkI is the rarest version as only 923 were built and just 30 are said to survive today. The all steel bodyshell was styled by Carrozzeria Touring in Italy and built by Vignale, arriving in the Midlands to then be paired with the inimitable 6.3-litre Chrysler V8 and automatic transmission. When new it cost substantially more than an Aston Martin and was double the price of an E-Type Jaguar.....

This particular car is the rarest and most desirable Series 1 and is a late production model, built just prior to the Series II in 1969.

It's an original UK, right-hand drive, matching-numbers car that retains the original engine and gearbox and has recently been maintained by highly respected Jensen Specialists, Cropredy Garage, so is now extremely well sorted. Featuring uprated adjustable dampers, electronic ignition, an uprated alternator, a high torque starter motor, twin cooling fans, a stainless exhaust, and is also modified to run on unleaded fuel.

Originally specified in Moorland Peat with a Champagne leather upholstery, as it remains today, the car has benefitted from a full restoration earlier in this decade and has now 'settled' into a car with great patina and presence. There is a photographic record of this restoration in the comprehensive history file which accompanies the car, along with many bill and receipts confirming regular and thorough maintenance.

PVC 111G looks, drives, and feels absolutely right and retains that 60's charismatic smell of leather inside the very period looking cockpit. Coming from long-term private ownership, our vendor is a real classic car enthusiast who has enjoyed the journey with this particular car and accordingly we are pleased to bring it to market for the first time in many years.

A rare opportunity today and viewing is thoroughly recommended.
