Description

The Jensen Interceptor is a uniquely British car. Although the name Interceptor is synonymous with Jensen’s from the 60’s and 70’s.
Styled by Eric Neale Jensen first used the name Interceptor in the 1950’s.

This Jensen Interceptor Cabriolet was delivered to Brooklands of Bond Street London and first registered 14th November 1952.

Chassis INT203449 still retains its original registration number 6441 AP
Its original engine ID10223 was for some reason removed by Jensen and fitted into a PW series car.
The Jensen Data Book, records that engine Z109721 was fitted as a factory gold seal replacement and this being the engine in the car today.

1st owned by Edward Jefferson a close friend of Richard Jensen, the car was in long term ownership and today has just 3 owners.

Believed to be no more than 10 survivors of this elegant Cabriolet and only 4 of in the UK, the current custodian, a knowledgeable and dedicated Jensen club member, bought 6441 AP totally dismantled.

The decision to undertake such a colossal restoration came about when he realised just how few of these Interceptor’s survive, and most of these in an unrestored state.

Also, his long-time friend, Graham Green who had built his Jensen 541, had recently retired and agreed to put his lifetime skills and knowledge into restoring 6441 AP.

Graham rebuilt the chassis just as the Jensen factory had done, by using a jig, copied from the Jensen factory method.

Along with a comprehensive rebuild of the chassis and running gear, Graham conserved and remade the aluminium body panels.

The engine was comprehensively rebuilt by Drakes of Bradford, which included crack testing and conversion for unleaded fuel to the cylinder head.

For the final stage, which included painting, interior trim, this was entrusted to Myles Classics due to their proven Jensen experience.

Upgrades have been sympathetic, and include disc-brakes all round, a Dynator for reliable charging, discreet brake servo and a rebuilt “His Masters Voice” radio incorporating Bluetooth and voice recognition.

The car has covered little more than 50 miles since its remarkable restoration and represents probably the best example of this magnificent 4-seater cabriolet.
