Beschreibung

British Racing Green trimmed with Black leather which copies that done by Tony Nancy for Steve McQueen, Under 1,000 miles from new, Lynx-tuned straight six engine with triple Weber carburetors, 5-speed gearbox, Left Hand Drive, Registered as a 1970 Jaguar, A replica of the famous Jaguar XK-SS once owned by Steve McQueen.

The XKSS is one of the rarest of Jaguars, only 16 being made from D-Type shells that remained after the disastrous fire that destroyed Jaguar facility in February 1957. These 16 XK-SS's have become legendary in the Jaguar world with auction prices running into eight figures should one of the originals come to market for sale. Without doubt, one of the most desirable Jaguars in the world.

Lynx Motors, founded by Guy Black and Chris Keith-Lucas in 1968, were well known for the maintenance and repair of all racing Jaguars; C-types, D-types and E-types all passed through their hands. In 1974, at the request of existing customers, the company built their first long-nose D-type replica which, when displayed at the UK's Motor Racing show in January 1975 created a frenzy amongst the astounded spectators. Using the remains of a wrecked E-type, Lynx took a mould from a real D-type to ensure the accuracy of their replicas. In 1982, at the request of the founder and President of the French Jaguar Drivers Club, they took a mold from a real XKSS, and thus converted his Lynx D-type into their first XKSS. A star was born! Handmade in alloy, trimmed in leather, these became the rarest of Lynx replicas, only 9 being made between 1982 and 2002, when Lynx stopped trading.

Moving on to 2014, Lynx re-emerged under new ownership and five new XKSS were made, again correctly built, but not fabricated in the UK, but rather in Czechoslovakia. All were left hand drive, and sold in America since tightening legislation meant that new replicas could no longer be registered in Europe and many other parts of the world.

This XKSS, again made in alloy and trimmed in leather, sporting alloy racing wheels, is one of a small band of such cars to be found in the USA. With prices of the original cars now being only affordable to extremely wealthy, this is an opportunity to purchase a replica of one of these very rare cars at a mere fraction of the price of an original. Fresh air motoring accompanied by the roar of the side exhaust and the hum of the 4.2 liter engine will provide a pleasure that would be hard to find elsewhere.
