Beschreibung
Jaguar’s XK140 added several meaningful developments to its predecessor, the XK120, which had stunned the public when it debuted in 1948. Some of Jaguar’s most thrilling technical innovations, which contributed to the C-Type’s 1951 and 1953 Le Mans wins, made their way into the XK140’s optional MC package, which included a C-Type cylinder head, larger carburetors, dual exhaust, wire wheels, and fog lamps.
This XK140 Roadster is a superb, unrestored example equipped with the optional MC package and overdrive. Delivered new to New York, this car spent decades in the collection of celebrated racer Herb Wetanson, kept alongside several other unrestored British sports cars. Retaining its original blue leather interior and much of its original Pastel Blue paint, both displaying fantastic patina, this car is exceedingly well preserved and is likely among the finest unrestored examples in existence.
The odometer showed approximately 21,000 miles at the time of cataloguing, and the car is accompanied by its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, which confirms its matching-numbers engine. The complete and exceptionally original presentation of this 1956 Jaguar XK140, coupled with its low mileage, unusual color scheme, and extremely rare combination of Roadster bodywork, MC specification, and overdrive, make it not only among the most desirable XKs, but also extremely difficult to repeat.
