In the early 1990s there were a number of cars that stood out because of their exclusivity and unprecedented performance. Think of the Ferrari F40, the Porsche 959, or the Bugatti EB110. Nowadays these have become almost unaffordable cars, but there is one that stands out positively! The Jaguar XJ220. This definitely belongs in the list of supercars, not only because of its phenomenal performance, but also because of the story surrounding these cars. Conceived and developed in the late 1980s by a group of Jaguar engineers as a project they carried out in their spare time, the nickname of this group of people was “the Saturday club”. The prototype was equipped with a V12 engine and four-wheel drive, but the engine turned out not to pass the emission regulations in many countries and the four-wheel drive appeared to cause too much power loss at higher speeds. When the car was finally ready for production, it had the twin turbo V6 engine from the MG metro group B rally car. With 540 HP, this was certainly not underpowered and it made the XJ220 the fastest production car of its time. The top speed was 220 miles per hour and which also gave the car its name.
The car we have for sale was produced on January 29, 1993 and was delivered in Germany to Mr. Hay Keong Yang, owner of Samsung.
It was not until July 2007 that the car was sold for the first time, this time to Mr. Killmurry from England. This owner would keep the XJ220 until 2012, after which the car ended up in German hands. In 2021, #100 received a very extensive service at Jaguar dealer Munsterhuis, which also registered it in the Netherlands for the current owner. Invoices for this maintenance are available. In addition to regular maintenance, the tanks, timing belt, clutch, fuel system with pumps and tires were also replaced. The current mileage is 2129 km! the car is therefore in completely new condition. The paintwork has also been treated with a glass coating in 2021.
With roughly 280 copies ever produced, of which only 18 in this color Daytona black, this is a very exclusive car that would fit perfectly in any serious car collection. You can find the Jaguar in our showroom in Dirksland, where we are happy to present it to you. This car is not to be missed!
