GENERAL

Its combination of beauty, high performance, and competitive pricing established the Jaguar E-Type as an icon of the motoring world.
The XK-E’s claimed 150 mph top speed, sub-7-second 0 to 60 mph acceleration, monocoque construction, disc brakes, rack-and-pinion steering, and independent front and rear suspension spurred industry-wide changes.
On its release in March 1961, Enzo Ferrari called it "the most beautiful car ever made".
The E-Type Series 2 introduced a number of design changes, largely due to U.S. design legislation.
It now featured uncovered headlights, a wrap-around rear bumper, an enlarged "mouth" which aided cooling and twin electric fans.
4,855 series 2 Fixed Head Coupes (FHC) were built between 1968 and 1971. This example is an older restauration, but it still looks lovely.

EXTERIOR

The sunflower yellow paint work on this E-Type is older, but it is a perfect fit for a car this age.
The same can be said about the bumpers and other mounted parts.
A true perfectionist would restore some mounted parts here and there, and maybe even renew the entire paint job.
But if this is to be a driver’s car, it can perfectly stay as is.

INTERIOR

The black leather interior is quite worn and would benefit from a renewal here and there.
We noticed a few tears in the upholstery which can be treated separately, so the interior does not need to be renewed entirely.
Dashboard, instruments, headlining and carpets are in used but usable condition.
As for the exterior, they could do with a touch of freshness, but only for the occasional concours d’élégance.

ENGINE

The legendary Jaguar 4.2 L inline-six delivers 165 hp and goes from 0 to 60 in a mere 6.4 seconds, with maximum power at 5,400 rpm.
The engine in this example starts on the first and runs very well. Driving, shifting and braking are all effortless.
When it comes to maintenance, there are hardly any records of what has been done before. It’s better to count this in to avoid any surprises.

BODY

The body and the chassis look quite ok. We’ll leave the final assessment up to you when vetting the car during our viewing days.
