Beschreibung
1968 Jaguar E-Type Series 1.5 roadster.
Matching Engine and Chassis.
No Reserve.
It seems the Jaguar E-Type can do no wrong in the collector car market these days. Even the once-unloved V12s and less sought-after 2+2 coupes are bringing big money and ‘projects’ likewise. This Series 1.5 E-Type is possibly the recipient of an older restoration, it has been repainted at some stage and the duco is beginning to show its age. There’s some chipping to the trailing edges of the doors and the right front guard, while on the front of the big bonnet the paint is bubbling in several places, possibly due to poor preparation. There’s some pickling to some of the chrome body trim too and it sits on a set of chromed (not painted) wires with out-of-date Dunlop SP Sports tyres. Inside, the cockpit is trimmed in black leather, which is creased, especially on the driver’s seat, though potentially this could be brought back with a good feed. The black carpets are worn too, while a period Philips radio is fitted to the dash, a nice original feature. Some of the mechanicals have been attended to after being stored in a private collection for some time, involving the dismantling of the front callipers, installing resleeved units with all new rubber seals throughout. It has had the front hubs removed and brand-new front discs fitted along with new brake hoses and a new brake master cylinder. All work completed by a well known jag specialist. It also comes with a factory Jaguar Service Manual in its original folder, a hardcover Chilton’s Repair & Tune Up Guide, an original Service Manual and a few receipts and history documents. During a recent road test it was discovered to have issues with the rear brakes, and some minor recommissioning may be required. Really, with a little attention this 1968 Jaguar E-Type Series 1.5 could be run as is as a well-loved classic or given the full treatment to turn it into a concours queen. The choice is yours. Previously on full Victorian registration, the 1968 Jaguar E-Type Series 1.5 roadster is being sold here unregistered and at No Reserve.
