Well prepared and superb maintained. This Jaguar E-type is a car which should cost a fortune to built. Luckily the preparation has been done already and the former owner has impressively maintained this car resulting in one of the best driving E-types we have offered for sale.
The iconic Jaguar E-Type has a long history, with three series of the car produced over a period of 15 years. The British sports car was reputedly named the “most beautiful car in the world” by none other than Enzo Ferrari and is often considered to be one of, if not the greatest, sports car of all time.
The car was first displayed to the press on 15 March 1961 to an unbelievable level of excitement, giving birth to a true automotive icon.
The Jaguar E-Type has been and continues to be one of the most desirable cars ever made, with celebrity owners including some of the biggest names around. Frank Sinatra is said to have taken one look at the Jaguar upon its 1961 reveal and said “I want that car, and I want it now” – just the beginning of the E-Types love affair with celebrities.
Other famous owners included George Harrison, Roy Orbison, George Best, Tony Curtis and Peter Sellers to name a few.
ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC EXAMPLE
What an extremely impressive car this Jaguar E-type is. The former owner purchased this car in 2012. At the time the car was already prepared for rally driving as I remember very well that the car was for sale at a colleague and my father took a look at the car as an addition on his own collection.
My father didn’t bought the car and the car was quickly sold to a gentlemen who had the intention to drive rallies with the car.
At the end of 2012 / beginning of 2013 the invoices with a total amount of € 105.000,- excluding V.A.T. are starting and it can be found on the invoices that the car was prepared for a winter rally.
Since 2012 the Jaguar was every year perfectly maintained. The car is ready to go with a new owner to be enjoyed for rallying or just nice tours.
The Jaguar is an extremely nice appearance. The car has beautiful and very impressive looks.
The bumpers are taken off which results in even more attention to the beautiful design of the Jaguar E-type.
The body of the E-type is beautifully restored and adjusted to the rally specification.
The bonnet of the car is a full race/rally bonnet with air intakes and integrated lamps. Amongst the 2 extra fog lamps in the bonnet, one can find another 2 lamps in the grille.
It results in a lot of light during the darker moments of the day.
Unfortunately we can’t make a nice picture but you can imagine that it is very impressive to drive this car with such an amount of light in the dark hours.
The left rear wing carries the petrol filler cap which is like the bonnet lamps beautifully integrated in the wing.
Near the rear registration plate an extra lamp (off-course period correct Lucas lamp) is fitted which can be separately switched to offer light when light at the back of the car is needed.
The overall condition of the exterior is very nice. The paint is nice with a nice shine. The chrome is still original and is also in a nice condition. One can find some signs of pitting but this belongs to the car and the way it is prepared. It should be strange if some parts of the car were nicer then new.
The chrome wired wheels are in excellent condition even as the windows and the rubber surrounding of the windows.
By entering the car, one is surprised by the enormous space and the comfortable seat position.
The former owner requested his garage to make some changes to let him fit properly in the car.
The seat position is therefore excellent, even for serious bigger persons.
The car is fitted with beautiful race seats with rally seatbelts. The seats are covered in a beautiful soft leather.
The roof is covered with alcantara and the doorcards have extra pockets which can carry rally tools.
The Jaguar is fitted with a roll cage to ensure safety.
The original and desirable E-type series I 3.8 aluminium dashboard parts are still in the car and as an extra, an extra dashboard panel is installed on which one can find the battery switch, and extra oil temperature meter, a switch for a 2nd petrol pump as well as the switches for the extra lamps.
The interior is in a beautiful condition and it can be easily seen that the former owner took care of his property. No signs of use or damages can be found in the car.
The driving experience of this E-type is difficult to describe. This car is driving so impressively well.
When the gas pedal is pushed the engine responds immediately. The 3 large weber carburetors breath the air and let the car jump on a impressive way.
The Jaguar is easy to drive. The shifting is easy with good synchros. The clutch takes up smoothly and the car can really be raced but also be driven on a relaxed way.
The brakes are absolute excellent and a ventilation is even made on the rear brakes.
Due to the fact that the Jaguar is fitted with power steering the steering is extremely easy.
This car is difficult to describe on paper. The costs to make such a Jaguar E-type are exceeding the current asking price of the car.
We sincerely hope to show you this car if you have serious interest. You will certainly be amazed.
