Fully Restored Concours Condition Series 1 E-Type
This stunning example of Jaguar’s sporting heritage is an outstanding road car that runs as well as it looks and features all of the Series 1 attributes that made the E-Type a special car. It has undergone a full rotisserie restoration that has returned it to factory new condition. It has been driven just 800 miles since and presents today just as it did when new. All paint, chrome, interior, and mechanicals are in excellent condition.
This Car’s Past
This Jaguar E-Type was originally finished from the factory in white, but was restored with Jaguar’s beautiful Opalescent Blue Metallic. The engine and transmission have been completely rebuilt as well as the differential, suspension, brakes, and steering. It is also fitted with a correct radio and retains all of its factory tools. It’s been well cared for and used very little since its full restoration. The top has never been down and this Jaguar E-Type has been properly stored when not in use. In keeping with its U.S. livery it has been fitted with speed rated radial white wall tires that ensure proper handling in any weather.
History of the Model
When introduced at the 1961 Geneva Auto Show the all-new Jaguar XKE caused quite a stir. Even the master himself Enzo Ferrari remarked that it was the most beautiful car he’d ever seen. Quite simply there was nothing like it and the E-Type was here to stay. Riding on a 96-inch wheelbase and measuring just 48-inches in height, the E-Type was long, low, and fast. Power came from Jaguar’s precision-engineered twin cam six that had proven it over and over again. Jaguar would go on to offer a Series 1, Series 2, and Series 3 E-Type with refinements made at each level. The E-Type also proved itself at racetracks all over the world and in the present day they continue to be successfully campaigned in vintage car events.
Restoration
This Series 1 E-Type has been treated to a full and complete restoration that has returned it to factory-new appearance and mechanical condition. The interior is finished in finely stitched gray leather with new carpets and all upholstery looks new. The dashboard and all interior trim are in excellent condition. Most impressive is the fine wood steering wheel that gives the allure of a true gentleman’s roadster. The Opalescent Blue Metallic paint gleams like new with a high-quality finish that can stand with the best on any concours show field. A Blue Haartz convertible top displays an air of highly refined quality with no wrinkles or blemishes in any areas. Jaguar’s completely rebuilt twin cam six is nicely displayed in this E-Type with beautifully polished surfaces and all plumbing and wiring properly sorted. The dashing appearance of this E-Type is nicely set off by a set of wire wheels that are fitting of a fine British sports car.
Market Trends
The cars of Jaguar’s sporting heritage have seen dramatic increases in recent years with good examples commanding a premium. Quite simply, the purchase of a quality condition XKE is a great addition to any collection, but it is also an investment. The appeal of Jaguar’s E-Type is clearly demonstrated by recent sales prices. Excellent examples have even reached $300,000 and beyond. These numbers suggest a strong market for Jaguar’s E-Type and there is nothing to indicate that demand for this classic roadster will diminish any time soon.
Summary
Jaguar’s sporting heritage is nicely displayed in this 1963 E-Type that is well tuned and presents beautifully. This is a Jaguar that carries the class, dignity, and prestige that a British roadster is known for. The fine restoration and excellent condition of this E-Type coupled with Jaguar’s fine reputation for reliability and performance makes it an excellent addition to any world-class collection of fine automobiles.
