Beschreibung

An undisputed icon of motoring, the Jaguar E-Type combined race-proven engineering with gorgeous styling that has earned it a rightful place in the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection. The most desirable E-Types are the Series I models fitted with covered headlamps, with the pure early production 3.8-litre examples highly sought after by discerning collectors. Those built in 1961, the first year of E-Type production, are highly prized, particularly those with a combination of welded louvres on the bonnet and flat floors.

The Series I Roadster on offer here was dispatched in December 1961 to Jaguar Cars of New York and acquired by its first owner, E.J. Hirsch of Medford, Wisconsin. Originally finished in cream with a black interior and black top, the Roadster is believed to have remained on the East Coast as the consignor purchased it from a seller in Upstate New York in 2007. Over the next two years a comprehensive restoration was carried out by the Jaguar experts at XK’s Unlimited in Central California. Restoration photos, accompanying the sale, show the vehicle completely stripped to a bare chassis and rebuilt in a stunning black and tan livery. Included with the sale are tools, manuals, jack, JDHT Certificate, and restoration photos.

Benefiting from minimal use since an extensive restoration, and offered in attractive colors, this spectacular E-Type Roadster will be a grand addition to any collector’s stable.

*Please note that this vehicle is titled 1962.
