The XK120 did so well on the race track and in rallies that it was developed in 1951 into the C-Type for competition. With an uprated XK engine, lightweight tubular chassis (which cost far more to make than the basic car‘s twin girder design) and more aerodynamic alloy body, the C-Type promptly won the world‘s greatest sports car race at Le Mans and, when fitted with revolutionary new disc brakes, went on to win again in 1953. Regarded as one of the seminal sports racing cars of the 20th Century with values exceeding the million pound mark, the Jaguar C-Type has cemented its place in automotive history.
