1923 Itala Tipo 50 Tourer

Sold by us in Sydney in 2014, this 1923 Itala Tipo 50 Tourer is an older restoration that’s ready for further refurbishment. It’s complete and mostly original, with its only modifications an electric water pump and fuel pump, both installed to make the big Italian tourer more useable. As it was eight years ago, the Itala is finished in red with black guards, both now showing scrapes, scratches and stone chips but no apparent bodywork damage. The wooden running boards are looking a little tired too, and the brass work on the grille and headlights could use a little elbow grease. The black soft top roof is sound but there’s some weathering to the cloth lining where it folds, while whitewall tyres adorn the black-painted wire wheels. Incredibly, the black leather interior is said to be the 1923 original and given that, it is in remarkable condition. There’s a bit of wear and a small amount of cracking to the leather in places, especially the driver’s side of the front bench, but you’d do nothing other than give it all a feed. The rest of the interior is also in good nick, with the sort of patina you’d expect from a car that’s 99 years old! Australian-delivered, not a lot is known about the Itala’s earlier history as it approaches its centenary, but it is complete, extremely rare, unusual and interesting, what a project it would be! Previously on Victorian club registration, the 1923 Itala Tipo 23 Tourer is being sold here unregistered and at No Reserve.
