This Invicta Black Prince was originally sold new in South Africa in 1949 to a British Army Major who was posted there.

Accompanying the vehicle is an extensive history file detailing its time in South Africa with the original owner up until its arrival to Australia as well as receipts for some works completed which include an engine rebuild and light exterior restoration.

Invicta released the Black Prince in 1946 as part of their plans to revive the company that ceased production several years before WWII. The Black Prince was designed to take on the British luxury car heavyweights, Jaguar, Bentley and Rolls-Royce. To achieve this, the Black Prince featured many options that its rivals did not, including the highest quality leather interior, an aluminium body, aluminium engine block, fully independent suspension, in-built electric jacking system and trickle charger, interior heating and built in radio.

These options meant the car would be priced 3 times higher than the new Jaguar Mk V and level with the latest Bentley. The engine was a 3L 6-cylinder engine that produced 120bhp. A total of 16 Black Princes were built of which only 6 received a Drop Head Coupe body.

This is an excellent opportunity for the classic car enthusiast to purchase an extremely rare piece of motoring history.
