Produced by Holden the 48-215 is a midsize sedan and the first fully Australian assembled car built for the Australian domestic market, owned by auto giant General Motors US. It was the first model from General Motors in Australia to bear the Holden name and had the official title of 48-215 but following its replacement in 1954 it gained the unofficial nickname of Holden FX.
The 48-215 was produced between 1948 and 1953 with a total of 120,402 units being produced.
The design was essentially a Chevrolet Fleetline Aerosedan which didn't make it into production in the US as it was considered too small.
Available in only four colours – Gawler Cream, Black, Seine Blue and Convoy Grey.
Built in a very different time there was no directional indicators, no heating or demisting provisions and at the rear there was only one single tail lamp.
The car had minimal interior trim and supplied with a small 6-volt battery
Powering the FX sees a 6-cylinder overhead valve 2.2 Litre engine producing 60hp connected to a three-speed column shift transmission and capable of a top speed of 129kph.
This example painted in Convoy Grey is as good if not better than the day it came of the production line its perfect in every way.
Meticulously detailed this car is a gem that rarely becomes available with collectors holding on to the pre 50's Holden range here's your chance to get an icon of Australian motoring history and a true collectable.
