Beschreibung
A total of eleven generations of the Ford Thunderbird have been produced since 1955. Following a production hiatus between 1997 and 2002, a completely new model – the so-called ‘Retro-Bird’ – was launched to mark the model range’s 50th anniversary; by 2005, 68’095 units of what was to be the last T-Bird had been produced. The roadster is equipped with a front-mounted 3.9-litre V8 engine producing 284 hp, which – like parts of the vehicle platform – originates from the Jaguar brand. The T-Bird’s design is reminiscent of the first generation. The Ford featured a removable hardtop, including the characteristic side porthole windows, as well as an electrically operated soft top. As Ford never officially sold this final generation of the Thunderbird in Europe, the cars are considered rare in Switzerland. The vehicle on offer here was manufactured in August 2004 and delivered to a dealer in Virginia. The iconic convertible was finally first registered at the end of 2006. In 2008, with around 3’300 miles on the clock at the time, the vehicle was imported to Switzerland and registered here. In 2010, the roadster was taken over by its current owner with a mileage of around 23’000 miles and, shortly afterwards, was repainted from its original silver color to the current elegant shade of green from Jaguar, which harmonizes perfectly with the light brown leather interior and the light brown soft top. Since then, the roadster has been enjoyed and conscientiously maintained. The available receipts and the well-stamped service booklet show that, amongst other things, in 2022 – at 77’900 miles – the front wheel bearings and shock absorbers, the spring mounts, the stabilizer bar ends and the tie rod ends were replaced. In 2023, at 78’700 miles, four ignition coils and all the spark plugs were replaced, and shortly afterwards the Thunderbird was fitted with new brake discs and pads on the rear axle. In 2025, the crankshaft vibration damper, the belt tensioner, the idler pulley and the V- belt were replaced, and a new heater valve was fitted. A DAB module was also installed to ensure modern radio reception. The last oil change took place in September 2025, just under 2’000 miles ago. With 88’300 miles on the clock, this beautiful and rare Ford Thunderbird is in good, well-maintained condition with signs of wear and tear typical for its age. The engine runs flawlessly and the automatic transmission shifts correctly. The vehicle will be handed over to a lover of American neo-classics with its last MOT completed in January 2026.
