"The Thunderbird could be considered the very back-bone of American youth culture. Sleek in styling, and already sporting the V8 engine that has proved itself over previous generations, this brisk luxury tourer proved hugely popular possibly due to the fact that its emphasis relied more on driver comfort rather than speed. It thus remained in production right up to 2005 in one form or another. The 1956 model freed up more boot space by mounting the spare wheel outside as well as moving the exhausts to the ends of the bumper and cabin ventilation was improved.
