Beschreibung

Any true car enthusiast knows the strong ties between Ford Motor Company and Shelby American. By the 2000s, the relationship between the two legendary organizations was in its fifth decade, and continued to churn out potent performance machines. Available through any Ford dealer, a Shelby Mustang GT500 was covered by a factory warranty and presented as a thoroughly engineered, world-class sports car.

For anyone looking for something a bit more special, Ford and Shelby offered the GT500KR, which included numerous revisions to improve performance and appearance across the board. The GT500KR was built to a specific code by Ford’s plant in Romeo, Michigan before being shipped to Shelby’s facility in Las Vegas. There, the drivetrain received different tuning, exhaust, and gearing, and the suspension was re-tuned with different springs and shock absorbers. Forged Alcoa aluminum wheels were wrapped in Goodyear tires developed specifically for the KR. Carbon fiber accents included the mirrors and front splitter. Horsepower was now up to 540 from 500 in the standard GT500, and the GT500KR was said by Ford to be capable of a 12.1-second quarter mile at 115 mph.

This GT500KR is a two-owner car that showed just 1,959 miles at the time of cataloguing. It was delivered new to Gregory Dunn of Knoxville, Tennessee, and sold to the consignor in 2013. Accompanied by service records, CARFAX Vehicle History Report, manuals, window sticker, Ford owner letter, and other records, this amazing Mustang remains a thrilling and eminently collectible example of the magical collaboration of Ford and Shelby, and deserves your close consideration.
