The Shelby Mustang, a modified version of the Ford Mustang, is a sports car produced in the 1960s by Carroll Shelby. It was designed to meet the demands of the American "baby boomers", born immediately after the end of the Second World War, who were looking for original cars with great power.
Made on the platform of the Falcon suitably modified, the Shelby Mustang was presented at the New York Fair in 1964, immediately obtaining a great success with the public for its aggressive lines and for a very long list of options that allowed ample possibilities for customization but, above all, for choose from a range of very powerful engines for the time.
At the launch of the car, it was in fact possible to choose between three six-cylinder engines (a 106 bhp 2.8, a 166 bhp 4.2 and a 213 bhp 4.7), but already a few months later, the 4.7 engine was already available in a 275 hp variant.
The Shelby Mustang represents the "pony car" par excellence, an authentic Made in USA icon still highly sought after by collectors.
