It is a beautiful Ford Mustang. What makes this car extra special is the fact that this is a very early example, a so-called 1964.5 car. In total, Ford only made 28,833 units of the 1964.5 generation Ford Mustang before the car was replaced by model year 1965. How many of the now very rare 1964.5 generation have survived is unknown.

The car has been fully restored to competition standard in the past. Since then, the car has been very well maintained, which means that the condition the car is in today can only be described as very good. The restoration could even be characterized as “un-American”. All the sheet metal has been renewed. Every panel has been renewed from front to back. You will of course not replace dull chrome strips on a new body, so they were also purchased and fitted completely new. All rubbers were also renewed during the restoration and as icing on the cake, the whole was completely repainted in the original color: Sunlight Yellow.

During the restoration, the car was completely disassembled. This immediately gave the people who carried out the restoration the opportunity to overhaul the entire technique. The 289 cubic inch V8 engine was not only overhauled, but the automatic transmission has already been overhauled. This large V8 was the top model in the convertible series of the Ford Mustang at the time. In addition, all attachments have been renewed. From hoses to cooler and from engine mount to couplings. Everything has been renewed and is still in good condition.

The interior was also completely reupholstered with leatherette in the original color and well-fitting carpets. Reupholstering the interior alone is of course not enough, so the convertible top was also renewed. The matching tonneau cover was not forgotten either. The instruments and controls also all function as they should and still look beautiful.

The documentation for this car is also beautifully done. The documentation states, among other things, that this car is factory equipped with power steering and you can read about the issues that were addressed during the restoration. In addition, there are many photos of the car available. The invoices and information go back to the early 1980s and only confirm the image we get with this car, namely that it is an ever cherished example. In short, a very early Ford Mustang Cabriolet in good condition and with beautiful documentation.
