Beschreibung

"The Ford Mustang was the brainchild of Lee Iacocca and was branded as the first 'Pony Car' and was born out of a need to compete with the flood of European sports cars coming into the USA in the sixties. The first production Mustang rolled off the assembly line in Dearborn, Michigan on March 9th 1964 and was introduced to the public at the New York World's Fair on April 17th 1964. The Mustang was only available as a hardtop coupé and convertible until September 1964, it was the fastback that drew the interest of Carroll Shelby which extended the iconic reach of the Ford Mustang and firmly put it into the category of motoring legend. The Mustang sold over one million units in its first 18 months on the market and became a popular car to customise, from engine upgrades to racing stripes, no two Mustangs are often found the same. Ford kept the Mustang relatively cheap with a list price of $2,368, making the car extremely popular.
This 1965 manufactured Mustang 289 Fastback was imported to the UK in 2015 just after it had been the subject of a restoration making it a tribute to the sort after Mustang GT350. The restoration included engine rebuild, body restoration, a full repaint and new interior. The car is equipped with a 302c.i. engine, mated to a four-speed, manual gearbox, which has recently been overhauled and the car has been upgraded to disc brakes on all four wheels. It is finished in metallic Caspian Blue with white Le Mans stripes and is complemented by a black interior. It sits on a set of 15x7 Revolution alloy wheels. At the time of writing this description, all the paperwork required to register the car is with the DVLA and a V5 registration document will be issued before the date of the auction. This is an opportunity to acquire a Mustang that has benefitted from significant time and financial investment. Factory, manual Mustangs with four-speed transmission are becoming increasingly difficult to find, especially considering the added bonus of disc brakes all round, this example offers excellent performance and is a delight to drive."
