Description
In 1966 Carroll Shelby was building more of the now famous GT 350 Mustang’s following the success of the 1965 version.
Hertz Car Rental Company approached him wanting a high-profile performance car for their rental fleet. The outcome was that Shelby would supply 1000 specially commissioned Mustangs, most of which were liveried in the unique Hertz scheme of Black with twin gold stripes and with automatic transmission.
Forward 40 years and year 2006, Hertz once again connected to Carroll Shelby, this time with a request to build 500 Shelby GT-Hertz Mustangs for its special clients.
Our car is one of the 500 genuine Shelby GT-Hertz numbered 488 is one of the last built. It was originally a rental car in Orlando Florida, and after a years’ service was sold and imported to the UK.
The car features all the original special and unique components such as bonnet, front and rear valances. The engine was tuned to give 10% more power and the suspension lowered and stiffened, with bigger anti roll bars. There is more by way of a tuned exhaust, limited slip differential with a shorter ratio for improved acceleration.
Imported into the UK in 2008, the supporting file has photographs showing the car being brought upto a high standard both mechanically and cosmetically. The car will be given a full service by our local Ford dealership who are experienced in servicing Ford SV’s before the new owner takes over.
