Beschreibung

In the immediate years following WWII, the subculture of hot-rodding exploded on the dry lakes and streets of Southern California, and one of the most timeless and recognizable choices for a custom hot rod was the 1932 Ford Roadster.

Presented here is a fiberglass-bodied Highboy Custom Roadster with styling cues from the famous Gee Bee (Granville Brothers) Super Sportster stunt planes of the 1930s. According to the consignor, this stylish Custom Roadster was built for an avid aircraft enthusiast and stunt helicopter pilot in Southern California. The Roadster is finished in an attractive white and red scalloped paint scheme and built with many period-style details such as the Mooneyes nose tank, Stewart Warner instruments, bullet-shaped headlights, a lowered solid front axle, wire wheels, chrome exhaust pipes, and abundant hood louvers. A full aluminum paneled interior and upholstered seats, reportedly from the Spruce Goose, finish off the aircraft look and feel. Additional comfort and safety features include an adjustable steering column, power brakes, and a modern audio system with amplifier.

This striking Roadster is powered by General Motors’ durable 350 V-8 engine and mated to a robust GM Turbo 350 automatic transmission for easy touring as well as spirited driving. A 9" rear end transmits the V-8 power to the road for maximum efficiency. Ready to impress on the road or the show field, this Roadster will surely provide years of driving excitement.
