Beschreibung

"This car can be viewed in person from 14th to 18th July 2020 at our the auction site, Windsorview Lakes, Datchet, SL3 9HY
Launched on 20th September 1962, the Ford Cortina had eye-catching modern styling. It was originally branded as the Ford Consul Cortina until a modest facelift in 1964, after which, it was sold simply as the Cortina but with four trim levels; Standard, Deluxe, Super and GT. The GT was the most powerful and as such, is highly sought after today. In response to the huge success of the Mini, Ford responded not with a small car but with a larger family offering which they could sell in large numbers. The result was the Cortina which was produced in five generations (Mk. I through to Mk. V). With variants of the Cortina reaching sales of over one million and each successive model proving more popular than its predecessor, such was its fame in the UK that the BBC Two documentary series Arena once devoted an entire programme to the car and its enthusiasts.
This Cortina GT was restored a number of years ago and presents in excellent condition today, resplendent in its original colour of Ermine white with the Lotus Cortina green flash added later. This example is very straight with good panel gaps and sits proudly on a set of Lotus Cortina steel wheels complementing the aesthetics. An inspection of the engine bay reveals the quality continues especially with the excellent suspension turret tops; a well known weak point on the Cortina model. The chassis plate confirms this Cortina was originally supplied as a righthand drive, 1498cc GT model with remote gear change, standard axle and black trim. The previous vendor made some important improvements on the car, including fitting an electronic fuel pump and pressure regulator, an electric cooling fan, an alternator and a brake servo, resulting in a very useable and immensely stylish 1960's classic Ford. The dashboard of this Cortina sports the GT auxiliary instruments, rev counter and odometer. A good history folder is supplied with FYC 582C, together with a V5C registration document and we are advised she will have a fresh MOT prior to auction. There’s nothing quite like an Old School Ford.
The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day."
