1963 vorgestellt, verband der Lotus Cortina die leichte und kompakte Karosserie des Ford Cortina mit dem von Lotus entwickelten 1,6-Liter-Twin-Cam-Motor. Das Ergebnis war ein außergewöhnlich agiler Sportwagen, der sowohl auf der Rundstrecke als auch im internationalen Rallyesport große Erfolge feierte.

Insbesondere durch seine Einsätze mit berühmten Fahrern wie Jim Clark und Sir John Whitmore erlangte der Lotus Cortina internationale Bekanntheit und entwickelte sich zu einer Ikone des historischen Tourenwagensports.
