Beschreibung
GENERAL
Introduced in 1953 as ‘the Fend', after its co-designer Fritz Fend, the FMR Kabinenroller micro-car was soon being marketed under its manufacturer's name, Messerschmitt. The Plexiglas canopy, so reminiscent of those of Messerschmitt's wartime fighter aircraft, hinged sideways to enable access for the two occupants, who sat one behind the other, tandem style. The current private owner imported this example from Finland around four years ago.
EXTERIOR
Presented in excellent condition, this KR200 has been completely restored with original parts only. This rare Messerschmitt KR200 looks absolutely stunning in its two-tone red over cream paintwork.
The current private owner decided not to fit a plexiglass canopy, simply because of the pleasure of open-top motoring in the summer time.
INTERIOR
This Messerschmitt KR200 has a beautiful renewed interior. Finished in red and cream vinyl, this little three-wheeler is reported to be a strong runner and lovely driver.
A groovy Clarion radio is installed and fully functional.
ENGINE
The small 191cc engine was recently rebuilt. It starts and drives smoothly.
Fun fact: by reversing the electric starter, the KR200's engine could be made to run backwards, thus providing four reverse gears and the hair-raising possibility of backing up at 60 mph!
BODY
Underneath, the KR200 is as clean as it is on the surface.
PAPER TRAIL
This car comes with a Dutch documents and a copy of an original workshop manual.
