Daytona Automobil presents a Ferrari Testarossa 'Monospecchio Monodado' in Bianco FER 100, a highly rare and collectible configuration of Ferrari’s most emblematic 1980s supercar.
The desirability of a white Testarossa—especially in the early Monospecchio Monodado specification—is rooted not only in rarity but also in cultural significance. White Testarossas became symbolic of 1980s excess and pop culture, immortalized in films and television that defined the era. In Miami Vice, the Testarossa’s white silhouette became instant an icon. More recently, the car was prominently featured in The Wolf of Wall Street and Straight Outta Compton, reinforcing its association with bold individualism and aspirational success.
This car is an example of the earliest and most collectible Testarossas produced between 1984 and 1986. These early cars, known as 'Monospecchio Monodado' models, are distinguishable by their single high-mounted driver’s side mirror and center-lock wheels, both of which were quickly phased out as production evolved. Around 1,000 such examples were built. When combined with the factory color Bianco FER 100 – an extremely rare selection at the time – this example stands among the rarest of all Testarossas.
Ferrari color records and registry data indicate that white accounted for only 1–2% of Testarossa deliveries in the mid-1980s. Rosso Corsa dominated Ferrari’s palette during this era, followed by black (Nero) and yellow (Giallo). Given the low production of the 'Monospecchio Monodado' cars and the minuscule number painted in Bianco, only an estimated 10–20 examples in this configuration were ever built. Fewer still are known to exist today in certified and original condition. The rarity is quantifiable, but the desirability is amplified by this car's unique position at the intersection of automotive history and cultural legacy.
This particular car was delivered new on June 30, 1986, by official Ferrari dealer P. Masino & Figli in Sala Consilina to its first owner, Mr. Grandinetti, in Rome. It remains in exceptional condition today, with 55,315 km indicated on the odometer and a known, documented history. Certified by Ferrari Classiche in October 2024, it retains its matching numbers engine, gearbox, chassis, and differential. The Classiche “Red Book” is included.
Its 4.9-liter Tipo F113A flat-12 engine produced 390 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 490 Nm of torque, driving the rear wheels through a 5-speed gated manual transmission. Acceleration from 0–100 km/h was achieved in 5.2 seconds—impressive for its era. The Testarossa’s ultra-wide 1.9-meter rear track and low center of gravity provided remarkable stability and presence, contributing to its reputation as a usable supercar with long-distance capabilities.
The exterior design remains one of the most recognizable in Ferrari history. Signature side strakes, flush pop-up headlights, and a sharply defined wedge profile helped make the Testarossa an instant automotive icon. In the Monospecchio variant, the tall single mirror mounted high on the driver’s A-pillar adds an instantly recognizable quirk, and the Monodado center-lock wheels makes the look complete in our opinion. Both features were removed in later production for reasons of practicality, making their presence here a direct link to the purest vision of the model.
This example has been very well preserved, retaining its original wheels and presented with its complete original luggage set, tool kit, manuals, and stamped service book. Some body panels have been repainted during its life, but Ferrari has confirmed that no accident damage was involved. The repainting appears consistent with careful cosmetic upkeep rather than repair.

With matching numbers confirmed by Ferrari Classiche—including engine, gearbox, chassis, and differential—and a clear lineage of maintenance and documentation, this Testarossa represents an exceptional opportunity to acquire a historically and culturally significant Ferrari. Within the broader Testarossa market, it is the earliest examples—those with both Monospecchio and Monodado specifications—that are most sought-after. Combine this with an original Bianco exterior and Classiche certification, and the appeal becomes clear. For collectors and investors alike, this configuration is recognized as perhaps the ultimate Testarossa specifications ever built.
