Daytona Automobil is proud to offer this 1990 Ferrari F40, showing 30,986 kilometers on the odometer.
The F40 remains the reference point for pure analog supercars. Weighing roughly 1,100 kg with its carbon-Kevlar tub, manual steering, gated five-speed gearbox, and lack of electronic aids, it requires complete engagement from the driver. Its 2.9-litre twin-turbo V8 produces 478 hp, delivering sharp, immediate acceleration once the boost builds past 4,000 RPM. Ferrari stripped the cabin of carpets, trim, and conventional door handles to keep weight to a minimum.
Paint originality is one of the most critical factors when inspecting an F40. From the factory, the red paint was applied exceptionally thin to save weight. Over time, heat exposure in specific areas naturally thinned and settled the paint further, making the underlying carbon-Kevlar texture prominent. On this car, the weave is most visible across the rear wing plane where engine heat vents past the plexiglass cover, on the front fenders directly above the wheels from brake heat, and over the front pop-up headlight covers. This natural pattern of weave visibility is one of the strongest indicators of original factory paint, as subsequent resprays typically fill in and hide these textures.
Mechanically, the car is fitted with a Tubi Style exhaust system. The stock exhaust setup is relatively quiet due to the turbochargers, whereas the Tubi system opens up the sound, providing a sharper, clearer V8 note. The braking system was also recently overhauled with fresh brakes, making the car mechanically sorted and ready to use.
At 30,986 kilometers, this car sits in what we consider the sweet spot for an F40. Extremely low-mileage examples under 10,000 km are often static museum pieces that suffer from dry seals and degraded fuel bladders. At roughly 31,000 km, this car has been driven, properly heat-cycled, and maintained. It is an example that can be driven on the road without reducing its collector value.
The car is available for viewing in our showroom.
