Fourth among the modern Ferrari V8s, the F355 Spider ranks among the most enduring and popular of the small Ferrari model lineup.

The 355 was another in a line of great Pininfarina designs mated with advanced technology from Ferrari and over twenty years later, the F355 (Type 129) still looks as vital and new as any of the modern Ferraris. Many describe the F355 Spider as the single most beautiful Ferrari manufactured in decades and the last true beautiful Ferrari. That may be a reach of course but the F355 Spider remains as one of the most sexy and elegant cars that Maranello ever produced.

Updated from V8 predecessors, the 308, 328 and 348, the F355 was a fresh direction for Ferrari featuring the tried and true wedge shape. Pininfarina streamlined the looks while upgrading the power with a 3.5 liter engine and the addition of four overhead camshafts, five valves per cylinder (thus the moniker 355) producing 375BHP, Bosch Motronic 5.2 ignition improved handling and drivability.

Introduced in 1995, the F355 Spider was among the first of the Ferraris to be shaped in the Ferrari wind tunnel and featured a fully electronic soft top which blends seamlessly with the rest of the car, lending a more aerodynamic and elegant look to the sporty car. The lineage of classic Ferrari lines included two dramatic air intakes low on the doors and along the running boards, a departure from the larger raked intakes of the 348 models. Likewise, safety features which were emerging in the 90’s such as anti-lock brakes and airbags were also standard on the F355s.

The F355 Spider proved to be a popular model with a total of 3,717 produced. 2,664 were made with the 6-speed manual transmission, a very desirable option in today’s market, and 1,053 produced with the new at the time F-1 paddle shift transmission.
As with all Ferrari V8 cars, the F355 Spider is fun to drive with quick, go-kart like handling and plenty of zip in the engine to keep any serious driver’s attention and still represents the ultimate top down driving experience. A perfect car for sunny days on winding roads, the F355 Spider delivers a lot of fun per mile and with Ferrari V8 models increasing in value, represent a solid market investment.

This F355 Spider (#8906) in Grigio silver with striking Burgundy leather appointed interior and only 10,097 miles on the odometer. All service on the car is up to date which comes complete with books, tools, records and a clean CarFAX report.

$97,000.

“At Curated, we do not acquire cars simply for inventory but rather based on what the car is. We love interesting provenance, very low production, very low mileage, very special and often weird cars”
