Ferrari's 12-cylinder berlinettas are perhaps among the best cars one can ever drive. The synthesis of absolute performance, luxury and elegance, they have always been the pinnacle of all Ferrari production. The 575 is an evolution of the successful 550 series, which represented a return to the roots for Ferrari. The styling was reminiscent of the coveted 365 GTB 'Daytona' of the late 1960s: the proportions were classic three-box and reminiscent of that legendary generation of Gran Turismo coupés from the Cavallino's golden years.
The 575 M featured a revised front end, new wheels and new instrumentation. The 12-cylinder was boosted to 515 horsepower by increasing the displacement to 5748 cc. The experience with the Enzo allowed the Maranello engineers to introduce the F1-style electro-actuated gearbox with paddles for the first time on a Ferrari of this type. This was the biggest innovation for the 575 compared to the 550, which was only offered with a manual gearbox. Few customers chose their 575 with a manual gearbox: the classic open grille was not only a hallmark of Ferraris since time immemorial, but the characteristic clunk during gear changes added even more pleasure to the driving experience. It is estimated that only 246 Maranello 575Ms were built with this gearbox. Even fewer are believed to have been equipped with the Fiorano Handling Package, which improved the car's responsiveness during sporty driving.
Packed with the most desirable features, this 575 M Maranello was indeed ordered by its first owner, Mr. Michael Shaetsch with the manual gearbox, the Handling Fiorano package and the carbon shell seats with four-point belts. Delivered by Ferrari dealer Mellin in Berlin on 30 August 2002, this Ferrari remained with its first owner until 2006. In 2010 the car was then serviced by the historic Kroymans dealership in Hilversum in Holland. In 2012 it was then sold to England, where it remained until 2019. In 2021 it was imported to Italy and serviced by the official Ferrari dealer Rossocorsa in Milan. In Italy it remained briefly in the ownership of a Milanese collector, before becoming part of the collection under its current ownership.
Uniquely equipped, never having had any crashes or repaints, and being Ferrari Classiche certified, it is one of the most valuable 575 M Maranellos in circulation today. As fun as it is exciting to drive, it is a highly collectible contemporary Ferrari that is rarely offered on the market. A sound investment for the future.
