Beschreibung

Ferrari shocked the world at the 1984 Paris Motor Show with the unveiling of the mid-engine Testarossa. With a mid-mounted flat-12 engine coupled to a gated manual gearbox, the Testarossa accelerated as briskly as its appearance suggested, and with over 10,000 sold during its 1984 to 1996 production run, it became Ferrari’s best-selling 12-cylinder model to date. In 1992, the Testarossa received its first major refresh. The updated 512 TR featured a painted one-piece front bumper, new headlights, grille, and 18" five-spoke alloy wheels which brought the iconic 1980s design up to date. Inside, the car benefited from new seating, controls, and a center console separated from the dashboard. Mechanically, the engine and gearbox were moved forward for more optimal weight distribution, while a new Bosch engine management system, larger valves, and a less restrictive exhaust resulted in better power delivery and performance.

Launched in 1994, the Ferrari F512 M was the final evolution of the Testarossa. The exterior was reworked for improved aerodynamics and featured fixed headlights, NACA ducts in the hood, and new modular Speedline wheels, among other styling updates. The 4.9-liter flat-12 used lightweight internal components to reduce weight and increase output to 440 hp, while additional upgrades included ABS braking and an improved air-conditioning system. Production lasted two years with 501 examples built for worldwide consumption, with a scant 75 units designated for US delivery, making the F512M the rarest Testarossa variant by a significant margin.

The example offered here is one of those rare US market cars, resplendent in the quintessential Ferrari combination of Rosso Corsa (Racing Red) over Pelle Beige (Beige Leather) interior. Sold new through Ferrari dealer The Collection of Coral Gables, Florida, it was first owned by Tony Martin of Miami Lakes, as recorded in the original warranty book. Subsequently, the car was sold to Milan Bogunovic of Calabasas, California, where it remained for the next 23 years, as documented by accompanying service receipts and state emission inspection records.

Under the current collector ownership, the car has been professionally detailed to concours standards and presents beautifully throughout, with approximately 7,200 miles showing when catalogued. The Ferrari has since been driven sparingly, while kept in a climate-controlled environment.

Highly regarded among Ferrari connoisseurs, the F512 M Testarossa represents the final evolution of a supercar that arguably defined its decade. The low-mileage, US-specification example shown here, complete with tool kit, accessories, service records, warranty book, and Ferrari Classiche Red Book, offers a rare chance to acquire the most exclusive of these iconic Testarossas. Wide, low, and commanding, the F512 M capped off a very special era of the Ferrari mid-engine, 12-cylinder supercars.
