Daytona Automobil presents a stunning Ferrari 512 TR in Rosso Corsa over Nero leather, distinguished not only by its originality and presentation, but by its pending Ferrari Classiche certification, which is already in progress and expected to be finalized shortly. This pending certification is of central importance, offering official Ferrari validation of the car’s mechanical and visual authenticity—a meaningful enhancement to long-term value and desirability in the collector market.
This example was delivered new on 22 September 1993 by Ferrari dealer Tamsen GmbH in Stuhr, Germany, to its first owner, Volker Graul. It has since accumulated 50,008 km and is accompanied by its original pouch, all manuals, a stamped service book, complete toolkit, service invoices, and, notably, the original Ferrari luggage set—a rare and valuable accessory seldom retained with these cars.
The service history of this 512 TR is particularly strong. In 2021, a major mechanical overhaul was performed by an authorized Ferrari service center, with the work completed just 50 km ago. In addition, under the ownership of a big collector in Austria, from who we acquired it, the car received a comprehensive mechanical overhaul in 2023 by his personal technician—a former Ferrari-trained mechanic. This included full belt replacement and associated maintenance, though the work is not recorded in the service booklet due to being handled privately.
The 512 TR was Ferrari’s comprehensive update to the Testarossa, and only 2,261 examples were built between 1991 and 1994. The model introduced significant performance and engineering enhancements that positioned it as a legitimate modern supercar. This included an uprated flat-12 engine (Tipo F113 D) with redesigned cylinder heads, larger intake valves, new manifolds, and improved exhaust flow. The compression ratio was increased to 10.0:1, raising output to 428 PS (421 hp) and 491 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0–100 km/h improved to 4.8 seconds.
The gearbox was reengineered and repositioned lower in the chassis to lower the center of gravity, enhancing stability and handling. Suspension geometry was revised, braking was improved with cross-drilled discs, and the seating position was lowered for improved ergonomics and a more modern driving feel.
Another important advancement over the original Testarossa was the accessibility of the drivetrain. Unlike its predecessor, which required engine removal for major service tasks, the 512 TR was redesigned to allow easier access to belts and other major components. This not only improves usability but significantly reduces service cost over the vehicle’s lifetime—a benefit clearly realized in this example’s recent service history.
Cosmetically, this car presents to a high standard. The Rosso Corsa paint remains consistent with factory specification and shows well, with no signs of accident damage. The Nero leather interior remains supple, with a desirable satin finish and no evidence of shrinkage or UV wear—indicative of careful ownership and considered storage.
Recent service history summary:
– 2021: Major mechanical overhaul by official Ferrari service (50 km ago)
– 2023: Full mechanical service including belts, performed by former Ferrari mechanic under collector ownership (not recorded in booklet)
– Fully documented with invoices and prior stamps from authorized Ferrari centers
This is a standout 512 TR, notable not only for its condition and complete accessories, but for its well-documented mechanical care, including Ferrari-authorized work and private specialist oversight. With Ferrari Classiche certification already in process, this car is on the cusp of becoming a fully certified example, which will formally confirm its originality and mechanical correctness.
As values continue to rise for 512 TRs—recognizing their position as perhaps the most sought-after iteration of the flat-12 Testarossa lineage—examples like this, with strong provenance, comprehensive maintenance, and pending Classiche, are increasingly desirable. This car offers a opportunity to acquire a complete, low-production Ferrari with all the elements in place for long-term collectibility, everyday enjoyment, or investment-grade preservation.
