Invoiced by Ferrari to Garage Francorchamps on 1 April 1983, this 512 BBi was finished in Rosso Corsa over a Beige Connolly leather interior, with a note on the delivery slip to not paint below the waistline in black. It was offered for sale as a new car in an April edition of the Ferrari Market Letter, by B.J. Lyon from Mobile, Alabama. By early 1987, it was owned by Dane Larsen of California. Walnut Creek Ferrari invoices from January to August that year indicate he covered approximately 3,900 miles.

In October 1990, this BBi returned to Europe, and was registered under a German company. It remained in Germany until being acquired by the consigning owner in 2009. Forza Service in the Netherlands recently returned this Ferrari to running condition, however, it will require recommissioning and a gearbox rebuild prior to road use.

Upon inspection, this BBi was found to retain its matching-numbers engine, gearbox, and numbered front and rear clam hinges/louvres, while it still sports its factory-correct colour combination. As one of 1,007 built, this Berlinetta Boxer is both rare and appealing, made more so by its original components and desirable specification.
