Beschreibung

Transmission: 3 gears, Automatic
Model year: 2022
Registration number: FE-41-85

The Ferrari 400i is the successor of the 365 GT4 2+2 and the Ferrari 400. Unsurprisingly, the 400i was given fuel injection. At the time, the 400i was known as a wonderful companion for long-distance travel, that delightful V12 engine was capable of very appealing performance and with the automatic transmission, available for the first time on a Ferrari, there was no longer a traffic jam. a direct cause of a huge left calf. The conversion of this copy has been professionally carried out. We strongly suspect that this is a conversion carried out by Stommel Con-Moda in Germany.

The bodywork looks very neat. The sheet metal is nice and thin and the fits are correct. The tonneau cover is in good condition and the paint is also neatly cared for with some traces of use here and there. The convertible top can be operated electrically and connects nicely everywhere. Also, items such as the windows and the door seals are all in very good condition. The car is on the original wheels fitted with tires of the correct size.

The inside of the Ferrari is also in neat, well-maintained condition. The leather is very supple and well-maintained. The dashboard is completely original and all instruments and controls function as they should. The interior of the Ferrari 400i immediately shows that this is a top Gran Tourer. The interior is wonderfully spacious and is mainly geared for relaxed touring. The seats are wonderfully comfortable and the back seat is also surprisingly spacious for a Ferrari from this period.

The technology has been well maintained over the years. The 4.8 litre F101D V12 in this case is mated to a three-speed automatic transmission that comes from Chrysler. The automatic transmission fits very well with the relaxed and GT-like character of this Ferrari. The rear is equipped with a level control and the front also has fully independent wheel suspension. The engine is equipped with Bosch K-jetronic fuel injection and produces 310 hp, more than enough to provide the Ferrari with appealing performance even for this time.

The Ferrari 400i should of course have been available as a convertible from the factory. It is not surprising that Ferrari did not dare, it is very questionable whether such a model is successful and whether the sales numbers justify the substantial investment. With many models in the past, you may wonder: what if? In this case, thanks to a number of coachbuilders, it is not necessary and you can enjoy a car that Ferrari did not dare to build. In short, get in and enjoy that wonderful V12 and those beautiful lines.
