Beschreibung

The Ferrari GTB / 4 “Daytona” was first shown in 1969. Compared to the coupe, a mere of only 10% where produced as Spiders. This means a total production number of just 121 examples where built as “Daytona Spiders”. Except for the prototype, all Spiders were delivered with folding headlights. A Daytona Spider with its 4.4 liter, 12 cylinder producing around 352BHP is probably one of the most spectacular road cars from Maranello. Powerful, masculine but blessed with elegance, a Daytona Spider talks flair and style of the glamorous 70s.

Our car with chassis number 14857 was the 36th vehicle built and was delivered in February 1972. In contrast to some missleading inforamtion online, Chassis 14857 was delivered in the classic and striking color combination of Grigio Ferro 106-E-8 Salchi with Pelle Rossa VM 893. Proven by the Ferrari Classiche certificate and a direct communication with the factory. Delivered through Modern classic Engines in Nevada in 1972 it was initially produced for the North American market. Mitchell Rasansky of Dallas, Texas was the first owner of the car and must have spent some unforgetable early miles in the car. Already in 1974, Mr. Rasansky sold Chassis 14857 and the second owner is noted, Mr. Horace from Memphis. In 1978 the car appeared at Motor Cars d’Elegance and was offered for sale. After further owners in the states, this Daytona Spider was brought to Europe in 2012. Back then painted in red and substantially in good condition still it was time for a full restoration. Chassis 14857 has been restored to perfection and absolutely “bare metal”. Proven by various pictures of the work done by Zanasi who even today is in charge of special order PTS by the factory. The last owner and Ferrari collector from Munich, acquired chassis 14857 in 2017 and has driven only few carefull miles since. Today the car presents as perfect as it was after its no excuse restoration a few years ago. The desirable colour combination, a recent full restoration by absolute marque specialists and the Ferrari Classiche certificate are hard to find attributes and clearly make this Ferrari 365 GTS / 4 an opportunity not to be missed. Fully matching numbers and matching colours Chassis 14857 will be appreciated by its next owner for whom the best is only just good enough.
