Purchased by it's first owner - Micheal Phillips =  from Maranello in July 1971, the Daytona bore his registration number 1111 WA.

The second owner was the legendary Ferrari collector - Robert Horne - co Chairman of London Tailor - Hornes - and perhaps best known for his ownership of an impressive Ferrari collection including the fabled yellow 512M prototype #1002.
He purchased #14351 in August 1972 from Rose & Young of Caterham with 8,000 miles on the clock and his comments below are in the car's history file:

"I part exchanged my 275 GTB/4 in part exchange and although such machines are now roughly six times their value then, but even so, the Daytona is probably a better road car.

The Daytona had been purchased new from Maranello in approximately July 1971, by a Mr Michael Phillips, when it was registered 1111 WA, his personal registration.  According to Maranello, Mr Phillips was a fanatical perfectionist, and the car was strongly recommended by them as being about the best low mileage Daytona around, having done approximately 8,000 miles and always been looked after by them.  Rose & Young arranged change of registration to GMP 867 J so that Mr Phillips could retain his personal number.

Under my ownership, the car continued to be looked after by Maranello until rebuilding of my 512M started at David Clarke’s Garypaul Motors, when the also took on service of the Daytona under Robert Houghton’s personal supervision.  All subsequent work has been carried out by Graypaul, with the exception of one treatment of brakes and wipers by Modena in Autumn 1978.

The car has never been used on short runabout journeys, but only on long fast ones, the fastest probably being from the Swiss ski resort of Villars to Calais in under 7 hours.  It has been treated underneath with Finnegans most autumns, including spraying inside the sill members and has been the best-loved road car I have owned, a superb, tuneful, razor-sharp, distance burner.

It appears the car was then sold to Alan Jones - the Formula 1 driver. The first bill associated with his ownership is August 1979 from Rosso racing. It retains the same registration. Rumour has it that he drove this car to the factory, and it was breathed on when he was being tested for a Ferrari ride...

The next was Bill Thomas and there is a bill on file which relates to July 1981. Another service in March 1982 gives the mileage as 56,743, MoT March 1984, 58,554.  The registration was again changed for a personalised one WN 4 in 1984 the bills suggest and further MoT in June 86 show 62,545, February 1988 MoT 64,113 miles, June 1989 65,309 miles and the MoT note the cherished number was changed back to an age related one of GPF 919J which the car still bears.

At this point the care is sold to Peter Thorpe and there are bills to show a mileage of 65,872 in February 1990.

The fifth owner was Stuart Passey who bought the car in 1992 with 67,000 miles on the clock and who whilst corresponding with Tony Willis in February 2016, mentioned there was only 71,742 miles on the clock and the car has only covered less than 1000 miles in the last 5 years.
