Leaving the Maranello factory and bound for the United States in 1969, the Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 offered here was delivered new to Modern Classic Motors MCM of Reno, Nevada. There, it is thought to have been the personal car of dealership owner and renowned car collector, William Harrah. In the same year, the 365 GT 2+2 featured in a road test published in the November edition of Road & Track (available to view in the history file), in which the magazine coined the term “The Queen Mother of Ferraris” for the model. The car was originally finished in Argento Metallizzato over a Rosso leather interior.

In the 1970s, the Ferrari came into the possession of singer and game show host, John Davidson, who retained the car into the 1980s. From then it passed through a series of US-based private owners over the following decades. It is understood that the car was restored in the early 2000s but was soon after damaged in an accident near Pebble Beach, thought to have then been finished in Nero over a tan interior while repairs were made, though the Ferrari has since been repainted closer to its factory-correct hue. After this point, the Ferrari returned to Europe, and it was acquired at auction by its consigning owner in 2015. In their care, the 365 GT 2+2 has been lavished with over €52,000-worth of mechanical maintenance by Rossocorsa S.r.l, the official Ferrari workshop, with invoices available to view in the history file.
