Swiss registration papers
Chassis no. ZFFDT57B00013863

- The ultimate version of the 360 Modena
- Only 838 cars built
- Well maintained and looked after, with low mileage

Riding on the incredible success enjoyed by the Ferrari 355, the firm from Maranello presented its replacement at the Geneva Motor Show in 1999: the 360 Modena. Applying the same successful formula of a mid-rear engined V8 berlinetta, Pininfarina’s design was resolutely sporty and aerodynamic. The 360 was the first Ferrari to be built with an aluminium chassis and bodywork, allowing an appreciable weight saving of 28% compared with its predecessor. Located under a glass cover, the 3.6-litre dual overhead cam engine with aluminium cylinder heads derived from the F355 was optimized. Now producing 400 bhp, it was mated to a six-speed manual gearbox or to the optional F1 transmission, which enabled quicker gearchanges. As usual, the Italian firm produced a more radical version of its berlinetta, clearly intended for competition, but which was also homologated for road use. Thus the Modena Challenge Stradale went on sale from 2003. In this configuration, the 360 Modena developed extra power, producing 425 bhp at 8500 rpm, enabling it to reach a top speed of 300 kph (186 mph) and cover 1000 m from a standing start in just 22 seconds.

The Ferrari 360 Modena Challenge Stradale we are presenting here was sold new in Switzerland on 4 May 2004 by the Garage Zénith, the official distributor for the marque in Lausanne. A real enthusiast for the cars from Maranello, Jean Brandenburg owned several Ferraris, including an F40. His Modena Challenge Stradale, which he called “My blonde”, showed a little under 20,000 km (12,400 miles) when he bought it in 2008. It has covered another 25,000 km (15,500 miles) until the present day, notched up during trips with the Ferrari Club or drives in the Swiss Alps with his wife. Finished in Grigio Titanio (one of only 16 in this colour, according to the Challenge Stradale registry) and equipped with the carbon pack and the additional stick-on centre stripe, its looks accentuated by its 19” wheels, the atmosphere of motor racing is well and truly present. The car has always been maintained in the official dealer network or by independent Ferrari specialists and was given a full service at the end of 2016. On this occasion, the timing belt and tensioners were replaced. It therefore runs as it should and has since covered little more than 700 km (435 miles), bringing the total on the odometer to 45,130 km (28,042 miles). Externally, the bodywork is in very good condition; we found no evidence of accident damage and the paint appears to be original. The owner was always meticulous and a fan of accessories, and this 360 Modena Challenge Stradale will be sold with all its books, two sets of keys, its toolkit and fitted luggage. With production limited to 838 cars, the Modena Challenge Stradale is rare and now of real interest to collectors. Cars with a known history, which have been well maintained and have a low mileage are to be preferred. Jean Brandenburg’s car is a perfect example of this.
