The Ferrari 308 GTB Vetroresina is the most sought-after production 308 today: just 712 examples were built with a fibreglass body that gave the car a significant weight gain and were fitted with the 4-cam 3-litre engine with dry sump derived directly from competition.
This lovely example, sold new by Pozzi in France at the end of December 1976, was bought by the current owner from a discerning collector who had acquired the car for his son as a gift for his graduation. The previous owner was none other than the publisher of the magazine Flat Six, who was obviously looking for 2 more cylinders! Once purchased by the current owner, the car was completely overhauled at ‘Cote Fleurie Automobiles’, in Trouville, Normandy. A host of internal parts were replaced including the clutch, brakes, suspension, exhaust, hoses, ignition and belts. The car took part in several regularity rallies without being used too vigorously. Having been used very little since the start of the pandemic, the owner has decided to sell it. The car will be fully serviced, including a belt change, before the auction in January 2022 to allow the future owner to enjoy his car immediately. It will be delivered with a 4 headlight ramp, recently refurbished magnesium wheels, and two original seats on which the black upholstery has been redone. This is the lightest and fastest of the 308s, ready to take to the road at a most attractive estimate.
