Beschreibung

The Pininfarina-styled Ferrari 308 GTB was introduced at the Paris Motor Show in 1975 as a supplement to the Bertone-shaped 2+2 Dino 308 GT4 and a direct replacement for the 2-seater Dino 246. Its F106 AB V8 engine was equipped with four twin-choke Weber 40DCNF carburettors and single coil ignition. The 308 GTB was built by Carrozzeria Scaglietti and had a tube frame with separate body. The 308 GTB/GTS and GT4 were mechanically similar and also shared much with the original Dino. The engine was a V8 of a 90 degree configuration with belt-driven twin overhead camshafts per cylinder bank. It was transversely mounted in unit with the transaxle transmission assembly, which was below and to the rear of the engine's sump. All models used a fully synchromesh 5-speed "dog-leg" manual gearbox and a clutch-type limited slip differential. Suspension was all-independent, comprising double wishbones, coaxial coil springs and hydraulic dampers, and anti-roll bars on both axles; four wheel vented disc brakes were also fitted. Steering was unassisted rack and pinion. The 308's body was designed by Pininfarina's Leonardo Fioravanti, who had been responsible for some of Ferrari's most celebrated shapes to date such as the Daytona, the Dino and the Berlinetta Boxer. The 308 used elements of these shapes to create something very much in contrast with the angular GT4.

To this end, it is with great pleasure that we offer this USA-supplied left hand drive 1976 Ferrari 308 GTB that has covered only 69,000 miles and is finished in the desirable Rosso Corsa with Nero Leather Interior, Nero Carpet and the optional Air-Conditioning. This original condition 308 was imported to the UK from California in 2014 and it comes with the completed UK registration.

The vehicle is accompanied by some fabulous documentation including its original bill of sale from the supplying dealer Ogner Ferrari of Woodland Hills California in July 1977 and also a personal signed letter from Piero Fusaro, Presidente Ferrari, thanking the original owner for the order of his new Ferrari. The vehicle also comes with its original OEM spare wheel, jack and the Ferrari leather wallet containing the original service book and manuals as well as a file of maintenance invoices.

Mechanically the vehicle wants for nothing having had a full inspection by Cars International where all areas requiring attention were rectified. It also benefits from recently having had a major service including the replacement of the timing belts and tensioners, auxiliary belts and spark plugs as well as various other general service items.

The 308 is one of the most recognized and iconic cars produced by Ferrari to date, made famous by Tom Selleck playing the part of Thomas Sullivan Magnum IV in the iconic television series Magnum P.I. It screened throughout the 1980s where he drove the car daily around Hawaii while conducting his thrilling investigations in the pursuit of criminals and countless beautiful women.

This is a truly beautiful and iconic Ferrari and this well-maintained example is a fantastic investment opportunity.
