The 250 GT model line would see a further development on 1 October 1959, when Ferrari displayed the Series II iteration of their 250 GT Cabriolet. As with the Series I cars, Pininfarina styled and manufactured the bodies, and power was provided via a 3.0-litre “Colombo” V-12 coupled with a four-speed manual gearbox. The Series II was essentially a grand touring version of the competition-derived 250 California Spider. Equipped with four-wheel disc brakes and the outside-plug engine developed during the Testa Rossa campaigns, the new cabriolet offered the perfect balance of handling and performance.

According to the marque expert, Marcel Massini, 201 examples of the Series II Cabriolets were produced between 1959 to 1962, lending the model equal parts elegance and rarity. This example is part of the early production run, leaving the Maranello factory finished in Grigio Conchiglia over a Rosso leather and vinyl interior. The car was delivered to John von Neumann’s official dealership Ferrari Representatives of California, in June 1960, and subsequently sold to its first owner, Mr. Jean Pierre Alvin Overgood of California.

At some point in the 1960s or early-1970s, chassis number 1941GT was subject to a “covered headlight” conversion by Tom Meade, the noteworthy Ferrari modifier. In 1976, this cabriolet is recorded as being owned by a Mr. Noel Thompson of Morristown, New Jersey, and was next offered for sale in February 1987, by Thomas Barrett of Scottsdale, Arizona. It is believed that the Series II Cabriolet was sold to Europe at this time and reportedly had its front suspension and engine repaired by Jarls Bilverkstad of Sweden in early 1994.

This 250 GT Cabriolet was acquired by Monsieur Petitjean at an auction in Monaco in May 1995, and has been enjoyed by him over the years while on the French Riviera. In 2005 the car’s engine was showing its age and Monsieur Petitjean chose to have the engine fully rebuilt by marque specialists. In 2015 and 2016 1941GT was exhibited at the Allianz Riviera stadium in Nice, France for the French Riviera Classic Motor Show. In the autumn of 2017, the Ferrari was shown at the Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat held on the Côte d’Azur, where it achieved first prize in the “Moderne” category. La famille des 250 GT connut un nouveau développement le 1er octobre 1959, lorsque Ferrari dévoila la Série II de sa 250 GT Cabriolet. De même que pour la Série I, c'était Pininfarina qui avait dessiné et qui produisait sa carrosserie, et sa motorisation était assurée par un V12 Colombo de 3,0 litres associé à une boîte manuelle à quatre rapports. La Série II était avant tout une version grand tourisme de la 250 California Spider issue de la compétition. Equipé de quatre freins à disque et du moteur à bougies sorties développé pour les Testa Rossa, ce nouveau cabriolet proposait un parfait équilibre entre performance et comportement.

Selon l'expert de la marque Marcel Massini, ce sont 201 exemplaires de la Cabriolet Série II qui ont été produits entre 1959 et 1962, ce qui assure à ce modèle une rareté qui n'a d'égale que son élégance. L'exemplaire proposé fait partie des tout premiers produits ; il est sorti de Maranello en gris Grigio Conchiglia avec un intérieur en cuir et vinyle rouge Rosso. Il fut livré en juin 1960 à la concession Ferrari de John von Neumann, en Californie, et vendu à son premier propriétaire, M. Jean Pierre Alvin Overgood, un résident californien.

En 2015 et 2016, la 1941GT fut exposée à l'Allianz Riviera Stadium de Nice, lors du French Riviera Classic Motor Show, et à l'automne 2017, elle le fut à Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, où elle remporta le premier prix dans la catégorie "Moderne".
