Beschreibung

- Rare "Chairs and Flares" version
- Recent major mechanical work
- Rare, elegant original colour
- Ex-Laetitia Casta, famous French top-model

On leaving the Maranello factory in 1973, this car was exported to the US, where it was registered for the first time. This is a rather special car for being presented in a rare colour "Rosso Cordoba Metallizzato" (106-R-7, 51 examples). In addition, it is a "chairs and flares" variant, the name given to approximately 150 Dino GTS that were factory-fitted with flared arches to accommodate the new 7 1/2 inch Campagnolo wheels, and fitted with Ferrari Daytona-type bucket seats. This Dino 246 GTS also came with various options, including electric windows and air conditioning.
The first owner, Mr Bohanan, kept the car for five years. He was followed by Mr Champion, the owner until 1981 and Mr Graber until 1988. By 1995, it was in the hands of a Mr Adami. The car then returned to Europe and in January 2006, it was acquired by the famous actress and supermodel Laetitia Casta. She had always admired the magnificent styling of the Dino 246 but never drove the car, as she didn't have a licence! During her ownership it was stored with Ferrari specialists, Mercier Automobiles, who, in 2015, after the car had sat unused for a long time, began a partial restoration, costing some 60 000 €. Work carried out included a partial engine re-build, "Europeanisation" (the cylinder head clamping is required) updating of various components, work to the braking system, clutch, transmission, lighting, dashboard, fuel pump, front and rear suspension wishbones and the fitting of a stainless steel exhaust.
During 2017, the previous owner has spent over 10 000 € on other work to the car.
Bought in February 2018 by the actual owner, it was immediately imported in Luxembourg and get the Luxembourg title after the technical control.
The odometer displays 38,160 miles today, and it is presented in used condition with old paintwork that remains in good condition, and a nicely-patinated interior. The buyer will appreciate the V6 engine and experience the neutral handling that is characteristic of this model.
This Dino 246 GTS comes with a large file of invoices dating back to 2012 that detail the work carried out, the certificate of purchase signed by the actress, a copy of the 2006 papers and a re-issue of the Uso e Manutenzione. Here is an opportunity to acquire an interesting example that is presented in nice used condition and in good mechanical order, without the glitzy appearance of certain restored cars.
